Meetings of Heads of Physics Departments

The Institute of Physics in Ireland holds regular meetings and seminars with the Heads of Physics Departments in Ireland.

These events provide a good opportunity for senior academics to discuss and highlight current issues in both research and teaching of physics. In turn they help to shape policy in the Institute and matters raised are brought to the attention of personnel at senior government and civil service levels.

Latest meeting of Heads was held on April 27 2007. The group were addressed by:

Prof Keith Mason, Chief Executive of the UK Science and Technology Facilities Council

The Science and Technology Facilities Council, World Class Science

Dr Patrick Nolan, Principal Officer for STI policy: governance, coordination and awareness in the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment

Developments in Strategy for STI in Ireland
